MUTANTES S.21 - 25 anos depois (2018)
Opis: After 25 years on the edition of "Mutantes S.21", Mão Morta returned to Theatro Circo, in their native Braga, for a celebration of the iconic album in the band's history and Portuguese music, which at the time provided the group, then only known in the most underground national medium, the recognition by a wider audience. The nine songs on the album were recorded and shot live during this concert. That record is the basis for the documentary directed by João de Sá, interspersed with recordings from the album and the band reported by his members and other participants in the album, and with documents from that time, namely recordings from the concert happened in the same place 25 years before. The result is an unprecedented and assertive portrait of a time and a band - and a music album - that are part of the history of Portuguese music. The Braga-based band Mão Morta, formed in 1984, is considered one of the most important names in Portuguese music in recent decades, and has one of the most culturally relevant and prolific careers at the national level, having edited 12 studio albums and 7 live albums, among "Corações Felpudos" (1990), "Mutantes S.21" (1992), "Müller no Hotel Hessischer Hof" (1997), "Há Já Muito Tempo que Nesta Latrina o Ar se Tornou Irrespirável" (1998), "Primavera de Destroços" (2001), "Nus" (2004) and "Pelo Meu Relógio São Horas de Matar" (2014). Constantly seeking to reinvent themselves, without fear of trying different records, Mão Morta sail between genres such as punk rock, metal, or industrial, easily identifiable by the unmistakable voice of Adolfo Luxúria Canibal. Their explosive live performances are historical, reflecting the themes addressed by the band's music, in which social criticism and fables of urban and personal violence coexist with a sarcastic tone. In July 2008, Mão Morta presented a film-concert in the 16th Curtas Vila do Conde program, where they played live alongside the projection of films by the American director Maya Deren (this concert was published in 2009, entitled "Rituais Transfigurados"). In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the emblematic album "Mutantes S21", Mão Morta performed again at Curtas Vila do Conde, in 2017, followed by a real-time illustration work with art allusive to the album.
